I started a blog in the very early 2000s when I realized I could cobble stuff together and could host it for free on the DSL connection at my house. If I recall the setup consisted of Red Hat Linux (back when it was free) running on a Compaq desktop that was bound for the scrap heap at work (it’s 500Mhz Celeron was already dated when the system was purchased new). I had my own crude CMS put together using Macromedia Dreamweaver and although it worked OK, I eventually got sick of that and moved on to using Blogger.
And there I sat for roughly 15 years cranking out travel logs and politically incorrect rants. All of the older content on this site is ported from Blogger where I wrote under the name Evil Sandmich (my go-to commenting nome de guerre).
Eventually in 2016 life got in the way of what was already a project I was losing interest in since the two things I wrote about the most, politics and video games, were becoming devoid of any real value. I eventually mothballed the site and locked down the content since some of could be utilized by even a very lazy doxxer.
Fast forward to 2020 and the slow motion communist revolution is hitting the gas button, no doubt as a rabble rousing and campaign finance scheme in a presidential election year. Relations and friends are increasingly asking me what I think of this, that, or the other thing and I found myself writing the long winded emails and social media posts that had initially driven to start a blog many eons ago. Not quite as young and not quite as well written perhaps, but I figured since I was armed with some new content I’d give it another go!
